Since the fall of the Soviet block, the electronic dance music scene has been quickly growing in cities of Eastern Europe. Of course, the holy grail city of EDM - Berlin - is the

most notable example of a "techno capital", but other cities, including Polish ones, have had a growing EDM scene for decades, and are only now becoming relevant in this peculiar musical world. In this article, I will try to show You a peek into this industry and introduce some upcoming artists worth looking into.
As with all musical genres and scenes, it is often incredibly hard to "make it" in EDM. Whatever that means to you, at least. Usually, it's dependent not on how popular you are in the scene, but more on the status of the clubs that you play in. One such DJ, previously present in Białystok's clubs, and now slowly upcoming in Poland's best clubs is w4ve. The artist, actually named Wojtek, actually started his career playing as a DJ at his friend's parties, which later slowly started turning into invitations from local clubs to perform. Now, he's actually played in one of Poland's most popular clubs, Warsaw's Newonce Bar. This performance is probably going to play a great role in his upcoming career, and we can only hope that Wojtek will manage to make it as a nationwide famous DJ.
With such artists as w4ve, the future of Białystok's EDM and DJ scene might not seem so grim after all. That's what we should hope for, at least. EDM still is not a very popular genre in Poland, and talented artists rather choose staying on Soundcloud and other such platforms than trying their luck on an actual scene. Now, we can only hope that more artists like Wojtek start showing up in our club scenes.
