I think we all have been there, especially when it came to choosing the path we want to pursue in the university. Even, if you have not but are curious about it, this is a perfect article for you that will go over that subject.

I am going to look at a list of ten career paths that are estimated to grow in the next few years, as well as at the ones that are estimated to disappear quite rapidly, respectively.

1. Software developer (and other coding careers)

I think it’s not a surprise to anyone that jobs connected with IT will be in demand in the future. The AI didn’t create itself and its progress has to be monitored by people who are specialized in programming and development. Hence, this job might be one of the best-paying jobs of all time too, and provides a great opportunity for lifelong teaching, if one is into that kind of stuff. This has led many schools in Europe and America to add programming or coding classes to their curriculums starting as soon as in elementary school. There are so many things that you can do in the circle of programming from game development to web development to programming applications development.

2. Blockchain job

There’s a small chance that one’s heard about it, so to clear things up blockchain job is a job that enables secure digital transactions by creating systems to record and store blockchain data in a way that prevents changes or hacks. It is estimated that the future of finance is going to be heavily influenced by this career, and it is estimated to create about 50 million jobs by 2030. The universality of this job allows it to be used for things such as cryptocurrency which is becoming more and more popular, as well as for banks and big corporations. It is said that almost all industries will be using it in the future to secure their finances and transactions. It is also a high-paying job with estimated about 10 years of learning after high school.

3. Cybersecurity

With an increase of movement whether financial or informational happening online, cybersecurity is becoming an inseparable part of almost every human's life. People who work in this field mostly protect organizational infrastructure, such as computer networks and hardware devices, from cybercriminals and hackers seeking to cause damage or steal sensitive information. It is an industry that has a very promising growth rate, and many countries have a deficit of cybersecurity analysts. Also, it isn’t said to be a very hard career, it doesn’t require a strong technical background.

4. Data Analyst

The data analyst data market has been growing quite rapidly for the past few years, there’s a good chance you've heard about it. Yet, it is expected to grow once again by about 30% by 2025. A data analyst reviews data to identify key insights into a business's customers and ways the data can be used to solve problems. They also communicate this information to company leadership and other stakeholders. Therefore there’s a good chance that most serious and big businesses will be in need of data analysts creating a big market for it, especially if they want their business to flourish and make good decisions.

5. Content creators

There’s a huge chance that everyone in their lives at least once got lost in the mindless scrolling of social media or ended up on one of the content creators’ pages and just got stuck there for hours. Since 2020 the revenue for this career choice has grown rapidly. It gives both the viewers and creators a lot of freedom, you can be anyone from a fashion blogger to someone who eats with people to keep them company. There’s no special way in which you can get well-known and start creating profits from this job but those who do have pretty amazing salaries.

6. Gene experts/editor

Gene editors are a group of technologies that give scientists the ability to change an organism's DNA. These technologies allow genetic material to be added, removed, or altered at particular locations in the genome. The UK government predicts that by 2030 there could be about 20 000 new jobs added to thor field. Even though it might be controversial to some, it could save someone’s life, because it will allow the technicians to reduce the risk of some serious disease happening in the kids of an infected person, therefore improving the quality of life for people. Although it is a sensitive topic, it is a huge step for mankind and might be the future of medicine.

7. Jobs connected with mental health like psychologists and therapists.

Even though computers and AI are all around us they’ll never be able to substitute contact with other people for humans. Moreover, with reduced contact with other people, more and more humans are facing mental health problems. It is estimated that the demand for jobs connected with mental health will increase by 210% in 2021 compared to 2016.

Jobs that are estimated to not exist:

1. Travel agent:

Many people already need to remember that this job exists since you can just go online and book your tickets. All your need is your own card and access to the internet, which almost everyone has. There are even particular websites that lower the prices. Many travel agencies have already realized that and are closing down quite fast, which the pandemic has sped up.

2. Cashiers

As you can probably notice in latest years more and more stores have self-service cashiers. That is due to society becoming cashless and using cards or other forms of payment that are also becoming more popular. Also with more people struggling to make contact with other people, socializing becomes easier for them. Not everyone is a fan of them, which shows that the disappearance of cashiers in places like fast-food restaurants is inevitable but we are probably going to see them for a longer time in grocery stores.

3. Mail courier

While professionals say that couriers who deliver big parcels should not have anything to worry about but the couriers who deliver small mail and bills are at risk. Most bills are already paid and viewed online so there simply won't be the need to deliver them anymore.

4. Telemarket

Many people will probably be glad about this, because of unwanted and frustrating calls. With companies wanting to make a bigger profit and the AI growing rapidly, most firms already consider hiring robots that are pre-recorded and could call people all day long. That creates bigger profits for companies and lets them boost productivity.

5. Bank teller

There has been a lot of information about physical cash disappearing fastly, and while the main banks will not disappear, it is estimated that many small branches will. Many customers prefer to either do something via email or call the bank where you do something by card, and probably could be substituted by AI in the future. People will still need to consult the banks, but there will be just much fewer of them.

Although it might seem like negative news to people or some people might be even scared about their future, it is not as bad as one might think. It is estimated that jobs that will be needed in the future have not yet been discovered, because of technological growth. Many of the jobs on the list will be substituted by new ones, as well as everyone will be able to feel a change in their job in the future with more technological innovations.
