Lana Del Rey returns with a tender, minimalistic sound that signifies a shift in her creative direction. Her latest singles, ”Henry, Come On” and “Bluebird”, both released in April 2025,
These tracks are the first teases for her upcoming tenth studio album, which is still shrouded in mystery.
“Henry, Come On”- A Minimalist Country Ballad
“Henry, Come On”, a five-minute-long acoustic ballad with strong country influences, was released on April 11, 2025. Produced by Lana herself alongside Drew Erickson and songwriter Luke Laird is a masterclass of emotional minimalism. The arrangement is sparse and intentionally understated, allowing Lana Del Rey’s melancholic vocals and introspective lyrics to shine. Her voice evokes the aching simplicity of classic Americana storytelling as it floats over gentle guitar strums. Lana, long known for her nostalgic looks and melancholic narratives, leans into a more personal and intimate style here. It’s a sonic departure that still retains her signature emotional depth and cinematic flair.
“Bluebird”- Nature as a Muse
One week after “Henry, Come On,” Lana Del Rey released “Bluebird” on April 18. Built on a single guitar and whispery vocals, this fingerstyle acoustic ballad is even more delicate. The lyrics use the bluebird as a symbol of longing, freedom, and the search for meaning- classic themes in Lana’s repertoire, but here they are delivered with a new level of rawness. Lana revealed the song’s inspiration in a heartfelt Instagram post, describing a real-life incident in which a bird hit her window as she was getting ready to meet someone from her past. She was so moved by the experience that she cradled the bird and started singing the song’s chorus: “Little bird, bluebird / Fly away for both of us.” Her new musical chapter's lyrics and tone were influenced by the encounter, which she characterized as a sign from nature and a lyrical moment of introspection.
From “Lasso” to “It’s Complicated”
Lana Del Rey's tenth studio project has a chaotic release, which feels perfectly in line with her unpredictability. In 2024, there were rumors that the album would be titled “Lasso” and embrace a full country direction. That plan was later scrapped, with the announcement of a new working title: “The Right Person Will Stay”. The singer then revealed yet another change to the album title and release date on a video posted on Instagram. The project's current status is still unknown. Lana has already issued a warning that the album's initial May 21 release date is probably going to be delayed. Given the evolving titles and shifting timelines, the only constant appears to be the music itself.
A New Era?
Lana Del Rey has hinted that the complete album will go into various genres, even though "Bluebird" and "Henry, Come On" both allude to a shift toward country and folk elements. It's unclear if this acoustic Americana phase is the album's major focus or if it's just a side trip leading to something bigger. What’s clear, however, is that Lana's charm hasn't diminished. Her ability to transform vulnerability into aural poetry endures, regardless of shifting titles and delated timelines. These new tracks show an artist that isn't scared to let simplicity speak for itself, rather than just tinkering with genre. And if “Henry, Come On” and “Bluebird” are any indication, whatever comes next will be worth the wait.
