Met Gala 2025 and all you should know about it

Lately one of the greatest events in the fashion world, very often called ‘’the Oscars of fashion”- the MET GALA took place . The Met Gala is an annual fundraising event for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known as the Costume Institute Benefit. It's a high-profile, invitation-only affair held on the first Monday of May, coinciding with the opening of the Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibition. The Met Gala is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world, attended by celebrities and influential figures.

On the 5th May 2025 celebrities, sport people, influences and even politicians arrived at the Costume Institute Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to celebrate fashion, art and kind of power. Like every year the ball had its theme- "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style". This year's theme was inspired by the new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute of the same name, which examines the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora. The dress code was "Tailored for You", a nod to the exhibition's focus on menswear. Also it was the first theme since 2003 that concentrated on menswear. The exhibition which inspired the theme can be seen in the museum where the MET gala took place. Opened on 10th May, it will be available for the visitors till October 26th.

But let’s go back to the gala itself. In accordance with the theme we could expect many suits and that’s what could be seen the most. It was definitely easier  for men to dress as the theme focused on them, but many women amazed us with the most unusual creations as well, pretty often with an accent of everyday trends. Like debuting this year on the MET GALA Lauryn Hill who wore a butter yellow suit with an extra tren on her arm. To get her outfit on another level she wore a blue Kelly bag, giant earings,glasses and a burgundy tie. The whole look seemed really put together and it’s without any doubt one of the best Met Gala looks as well as one of the best debuts in the history of the events. Anne Hathaway’s look was really casual but still chic and fabulous. She wore a white shirt and a long maxi skirt from Carolina Herrera.  Apart from the fact that many celebrities didn’t  follow the theme, I think we can still be pleased with this year's red carpet show.

About 500 celebrities accepted the invitation to this year’s event. We got a lot of funny and historical moments. Instagram accounts of many celebrities showed recreations of the famous ‘’Bathroom photo’’. Also for the first time in history two celebrities wore almost the same outfits. Zendaya and Shogun wore white costumes with white hats and ties. It was really spectacular and unusual. The after party outfits also really amazed us. The most amazing one was worn by Kendall Jenner. She decided to continue the theme and wore an elegant and extremely chic vintage Mugler look. It was a sleek all black look with a tilted hat. At the after party most people attending decided to forget about the theme and wore something that fitted them more. Like Hailey Bieber with her amazing velvety, champagne-coloured, corset minidress with golden peep-toe heels.

The MET GALA is one of the most prestigious and awaited events of the year and it’s all because of its organization. Anna Wintour and hundreds of workers always make sure that everything is buttoned up to the last detail and everyone behaves according to her strict rules. It all creates an amazing event with extraordinary atmosphere and wonderful surroundings loved by many

As May is definitely a month for all fashion lovers, we are now waiting for the festival in Cannes where we will be able to see more red carpet outfits. Or maybe not since the organisers tend to announce the new very controversial rules a few days before the event.
